The Threads of Fate

The inspiration for these paintings are the tales about the Norns in old Norse mythology.

The Norns are female beings who rule the destiny of gods and men. They are called Urd, Verdande and Skuld, and they weave the threads of the destiny (or fate) of each individual at birth.

They roughly correspond to other controllers of humans’ destiny, such as the Fates, elsewhere in European mythology. In Greek mythology, they’re collectively known as the Moirai, and their names are Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos. Clotho (whose name means spinner) spins the thread of each person’s life, Lachesis (the allotter) measures the thread, and then Atropos (the inevitable) cuts the thread.

More mountains

The Swiss alps must be among the most beautiful places in the world. Here are some paintings from 2019-20 of mountains in the valleys of Landwasser (Davos) and Engadin (St. Moritz) in the Graubünden area.

Free form

Painting abstracts are a lot of fun and even more frustration. The love of colour and form should be enough, but never is, and when is the picture finished?

I do not yet have one preferred motif or painting style. Instead, I try to practice as much as I can to gain more knowledge of the possibilities of expressing myself. Here are a collection of different studies:
